The Correze department of France

We are in the Correze
The department of Correze forms part of the Limousin region of France. From the mysterious moors of the Millevaches plateau to the rolling hills of the Pays de Brive with its mild climate and verdant valleys, the Correze offers a great variety of landscapes. It is still relatively unknown as a holiday destination. Here's your chance to holiday in the green heart of France.

Riding in the Xaintrie

On horseback in the Xaintrie

We have two excellent local stables. Firstly, the award winning Sagiran Stables are only an eight minute drive away. They were set up by an American woman, and therefore also English speaking. These stables specialise in Apaloosa horses and riding in the western style. You can learn to be a cowboy/cowgirl and make the most of the beautiful countryside on the back of these wonderful, gentle horses. They also have lovely ponies for small children.

The western riding experience is not compulsory and you can choose a more traditional hack if you prefer.

The second one is for those looking for a traditional ride where only French is spoken. Brush up on your French and ride at the same time!

"I have a teenage god-daughter who is happy to get up at dawn if she is going to the stables. Normally I have trouble getting her out of bed for lunch!"

Here are pictures of a western competition that took place in August. One of our lovely guests took part. She and her family stayed here for one month and we had arranged for her to have "her own" horse for the summer. She spent every day at the stables and loved every minute of it. Her beautiful horse was called "Habille par Prada" (Dressed by Prada), every fourteen year old girl's dream! The family are returning next summer and we have arranged for the two of them to be reunited.
